The more we get together, the happier we'll be

The new show on Channel 8 "Together", 当我们同在一起 is bound to be a hit again.

Almost the whole cast is from the Little Nyonya drama series.

The show is set in the early years of Singapore's independence from the British. The story starts from 1967, when Singapore first implemented compulsory National Service and first printed its own currency.

It was also the year when people rented out fake eyelashes for $4 a day! Egg prices plummeted to a new low, prompting many Singaporeans to start killing chickens to lower the egg supply.

The last few lines of the song say -->

"Even if I had the whole world, and you were not there to witness it, I would rather go back to that year when you were there with me to embrace tomorrow.

And even if I lost the whole world, and you were here with me, could we go back to that year where it seemed like forever?"

We as Singaporeans have come a long way. When I watch this kind of shows, I often wonder how our grandparents fought for a living in the early years of Singapore's independence and how they fell in love with each other in the midst of all the trouble and struggling.

Without our grandparents who came from China, India, and everywhere else in the world, we wouldn't even be here. Our city would not be what it is today.
